The safest way to sail or steam is with a FREE
Flotilla 73 Vessel Safety Check.
Be certain your vessel is equipped with the right equipment in functioning order to make boating nothing but a pleasure for you, your family and friends.

The courtesy Vessel Safety Check inspection is FREE, and there is NO obligation on the owner's part to comply with any resulting recommendations. Also, no report will be made to USCG, if the boat fails to pass.

The Vessel Safety Check Program, formerly known as Courtesy Marine Examinations (CME's), is an effective and proactive preventative safety program unique to the recreational boating community. It insures that you will know the key marine safety equipment needed to keep your passengers safe and you in compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations. It's much better to get a free inspection from us than a costly examination and fine from the authorities.

Our Safety Checks provide you an opportunity to discuss the function of marine safety equipment, to clarify they various Federal, State, and local regulations you sail under, to understand specific safety procedures and practices, and to get answers to any boating related questions you have.

The equipment you carry is categorized in three ways:

  1. NEEDED BUT NOT REQUIRED by law
  2. NICE TO HAVE along

USCGAUX courtesy examiners will check that you have the "must have" equipment. You cannot qualify for the Safety Check Certificate if you don't. The examiners will also check your other equipment and offer experienced comments on your selections.

If you would like to make an appointment for one of our trained examiners to inspect your boat and safety equipment, call this number (727) 391-5185 to get information on scheduling a free vessel examination in your area.. The inspection is FREE and there is NO obligation on the owner's part to comply with any resulting recommendations. Also, no report will be made to USCG, if the boat fails to pass.
